Repair Assessment: Remove hands and dials Replace 2 x clock movements Replace lighting ring Overpaint clock drum and bracket and hands Clean dials and re gild previously gilded areas Install new clock time controller (Auto Re-Start Unit) Commission the clock heavy duty synchronous electric clock movements will drive the hands. These are extremely accurate at +/- 1 second per month. Corrosion resistant steel plated casings Pre-lubricated long life bearings Precision machined brass gear wheels Bronze bearings Stainless steel hour and minute spindles encased in a brass support tube Operates in temperatures of plus 53 degrees and below minus 20 degrees.
Cost/Quote: Approx. £6,500 not including scaffolding
Interested Parties: Battle residents, Costa, Battle Town Council, Battle Chamber of Commerce, English Heritage (they own Battle Abbey).

Outcome: Current steps: establish quote for repairs and scaffolding from preferred partners. Proposal to be submitted for consideration at Committee meeting in July 2024.
